Membership

MSH is a men only organisation and defined using the Charities Exception for single Protected Characteristic groups under the Equality Act 2010, Section 193(1). This aligns with the founding  principles of the Men’s Sheds movement, and is in recognition of the health & wellbeing benefits of providing a social and  working space for men who are retired or have suffered a social/ occupational discontinuity in their lives. Men in these categories are at greater risk of suffering ill-health through isolation/loneliness than women; men are 4 times more likely to commit suicide than women [ref: The Samaritans], women are 4 times more likely to attend social community groups than men. 

Whilst our membership is men only, we cater for women and young people through the provision of one off sessions, events and workshops.
